AI Consent & Disclosure
Transparency about our use of artificial intelligence
Effective Date: February 15, 2026 | Last Updated: February 15, 2026
1. Our Commitment to Transparency
Liberation Compass uses artificial intelligence and algorithmic decision-support tools. We believe you have the right to understand how AI influences the recommendations you receive. This disclosure explains what AI does and does not do within the Platform.
AI is a tool in service of your wisdom — never a replacement for it. You are the expert on your own life.
2. How We Use AI
2.1 Recommendation Engine
AI algorithms analyze your profile data against country-level Social Determinants of Health data to generate:
- Personalized country match scores across multiple dimensions
- Readiness assessments (Financial, Health, Legal, Community, Execution)
- "Why this fits" and "Watch for" pathway explanations
- Risk alerts based on your specific circumstances
2.2 AI Mobility Advisor
The chat-based AI Mobility Advisor provides contextual guidance on topics including healthcare, costs, visas, safety, and community. The Advisor:
- Uses template-based response generation enhanced with your profile data
- References real country data from authoritative sources (WHO, World Bank, ILO, etc.)
- Provides informational responses — never professional advice
- Maintains conversation history within your session for context
2.3 Scoring & Analysis
Algorithmic scoring is used for:
- Weighted fit scores based on your stated priorities
- Social Determinants of Health category scoring (letter grades A-E)
- Readiness sub-score calculations
- Cost comparison and break-even analysis
3. What AI Does NOT Do
To be clear about our boundaries:
- AI does not make decisions for you. All recommendations are suggestions for your consideration.
- AI does not provide legal, medical, or financial advice. Consult qualified professionals.
- AI does not access external personal data. It only uses information you voluntarily provide.
- AI does not perform surveillance. We do not monitor behavior, social media, or external activities.
- AI does not create profiles for third parties. Your data is never shared with other platforms.
- AI does not use facial recognition or biometric data.
4. Data Used by AI
AI systems in Liberation Compass process:
| Data Source | Type | Your Control |
| Your profile responses | User-provided | You can update or delete at any time |
| Country SDoH data | Public/authoritative sources | Data sources are cited transparently |
| Scoring schema | Our proprietary methodology | Methodology is documented in-app |
| Chat messages to AI Advisor | User-provided per session | Session-based; not permanently stored |
5. Bias Awareness & Mitigation
We acknowledge that AI systems can reflect and amplify biases. Our approach to responsible AI includes:
- Identity-Aware Design: We deliberately factor in discrimination risk, racial demographics, and lived experiences rather than ignoring them
- Data Source Diversity: Country data comes from multiple authoritative international organizations
- Human Oversight: All scoring methodologies are reviewed and updated by human experts
- Continuous Improvement: We actively seek feedback to identify and address biases
- Trauma-Informed Approach: Our AI is designed to support, not retraumatize
6. Your Rights Regarding AI
You have the right to:
- Understand: Know when and how AI influences recommendations shown to you
- Override: Disregard any AI recommendation — your judgment always takes priority
- Question: Ask why a specific recommendation was made
- Opt Out: Request that your data not be processed by certain AI features
- Feedback: Report concerns about AI-generated recommendations
7. Limitations of AI
AI recommendations are not guarantees. They are data-informed suggestions based on available information. Real-world outcomes depend on many factors that AI cannot fully capture, including local conditions, personal relationships, timing, and individual circumstances.
Country data is updated periodically but may not reflect the most current conditions. Immigration policies, safety conditions, and economic situations can change rapidly.
